Notes

buried at Concord, NE Hildur Viktoria Jonsson grew up at the Falsterbo iron manufacturing village near Hjorted. She attended the Lutheran Church at Hjorted and was confirmed there, but could find no record just when. The church in Hjorted is 200 years old. The owners of the big farm (Eger) or iron-works place where she and her mother lived and worked was: Krister Herman Tillberg (Merit order from King = R.V.O. - Brukspatron, he was born May 28, 1840). Krister Tillberg married Laura Kidrika Elisabet Charlotte Bronikowshy (polish). She was born August 7, 1844. Hilma and duaghter, Hildur, lived with Karl & Albertina Jonsson at the iron-works place in their own little cottage. The only building left in Setember 1983 was used as the Store House and was built in 1780 according to the people living there now. It has been remodeled into a large home, but the attic still shows some of the hooks where the meat was stored, plus other things. They have a lot of very antique furniture - 1600-1700. For more information see the book: Forsamlingsbok Hjorteds Forsanling 1897 1901 Hildur came to USA with her girlfriend, Anna Nilsson (Mrs. August B. Anderson). They left Sweden on April 6, 1903 and arrived at Oakland, NE on May 18, 1903. Hildur was 15 years old (almost 16), and Anna was 16. They planned to wrk and get rich and return to Sweden in 5 years. The people she was to work for in Oakland, Nebraska paid for her ticket. She worked for $1.50 per week for one year to pay them for her ticket. She received her education in Sweden going every other day and also attended school one winter in America when her help was not needed. She worked as a domestic helper until her marriage to Albin Carlson on January 4, 1907. She was 19 1/2 years of age. After 12 years of farming at Oakland and Lyons, Nebraska they purchased a farm one mile east of Wayne, NE. Six of their eight children were born at Oakland, NE and 2 at Wayne, NE. They moved to Wayne, NE in March 1919. Hildur gave her heart to Christ at the same meeting as her husband, Albin. She was a good mother with great concern for the welfare of her children, both in a physical and spiritual way. After her husband's death, she continued to live on the home place with daughter and son-in-law, Verna and Virgil Kardell. She moved with them to Wayne, NE in 1962 and had her own apartmenht in their basement for several years. After a stroke she resided at the Wayne Care Center the last two years until she passed away on April a4, 1975 at the age of 88 years. Her funeral was held at the Concord, NE Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Detlov Lindquist officiating. Interment was in the cemetery at Concor, NE. Her husband and one grandchild preceded her in death. Surviving were 8 children, 31 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and one great, great, grand chld.
